Porn, Pancakes, and Freedom

Last month I was able to head down to Indiana for a Porn & Pancakes breakfast with xxxchurch.  This was a great morning filled with honest talk about porn and its path it can lead you down.  During the event I shared my story with over 500 guys.  You can see my whole story here but, the short of the long is this; Addicted for over 8 years, confession, then burning the collection of porn I had at home.  After the event I spoke with several guys on how they were either struggling or dealing with some type of issue of porn.  I have to admit that speaking with these guys after the events is great.  I truly feel like this is what it is all about; sharing my story.  Then right before we head out I hear another guy telling his story and how porn destroyed two of his marriages and the loss of a great girlfriend.  Just looking at him you can see his disappointment, shame, and guilt he was carrying on his shoulders.  The best part is that he figured out through prayer, confession, and now accountability that he does not need to hold on to those things.  He knows that God will remove all of that.  The Video below is what was to follow after he shared his story with us.

Safe Eyes – Know What is Going On!!

Being a parent I know how easy it is sometimes to let them just get on the computer and start looking for stuff via the internet.  Keeps them out of my hair sometimes and keeps them busy. (Michigan winters never help)

They hit sites like Nick JR, Legos, or other site that they are intrested in.  Did you know that some site kids like to goto with one miss spelled letter can lead them to a pornographic web site?  In a lot of these site they have chats and other types of messaging formats. 

Now that I have kicked my addiction of porn I look back and think what started this? What was the seed that started this all?  Like a hard drive I can still reflect back to the very image that started it all.  I came across this by accident.  I did not have the internet to surf then; with access to everything out there.  So for me this was a big happen stance.

Today though my children have internet access and can get anything they want in the flash of an eye.  The eye that logs everything you see and burns it into yur memory.  I dodo not want my son or daughter to see these images and possably dive right into the same addiction that I did.  They also have a large group of chat sites or messaging services to get into.  These are great arenas for some people to pray on your children and lure them into things you never thought possable.

In todays electronic world you have to be prepared and know what your child is doing, seeing, or saying.  No this is not invading their privacy.  You take actions to make sure your children do not get hurt.  You know who their friends are and their parents right?
